Distinquished Alumni Award
Qualifications & Selection Process
Immaculate Conception High School has established a Distinguished Alumni Award. This annual award is given during Catholic Schools Week in January. It is intended to recognize an Immaculate Conception graduate whose achievements reflect excellence, commitment, service and gives witness to the heart and spirit of Catholic education. The award was created in 2005 to serve as a standard to which current students can aspire.
Immaculate Conception High School alumni, teachers, current and past, parents and friends of the school are eligible to submit nominations.
DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI AWARD QUALIFICATIONS
Nominees must have graduated from ICHS at least ten years prior to nomination.
Achievements and/or contributions of the nominee must reflect significant accomplishment in his or her career, occupation or avocation.
Nominees should have an outstanding record of service and/or leadership.
Nominees should have received recognition on a national, state or local level for their achievements, contributions and/or service
Special awards can be given for unusual acts of courage, heroism or bravery.
Selection Process
Nominations are to be submitted by December 1st of each year.
A five member selection committee (composed of the pastor, principal, president of the National Honor Society chapter, president of the Student Council, and the president of the Alumni Association) will determine each year’s award winner from the nominations submitted.
The selection committee will protect the confidentiality of the nominees during deliberations and while the nominee is on file for possible consideration.
Persons not selected for the award on their initial nomination will have their nomination reviewed annually for two additional years.
Members of the selection committee cannot be a nominee nor can they make a nomination during their tenure on the committee.
The award winner will be announced at least one month prior to the presentation.
Each year, the Distinguished Alumni Award winner will be asked to address the students of ICHS in a manner appropriate to their area of expertise.
