Sean Doherty Named Finalist In The 2010 National Merit Scholarship Program

Immaculate Conception High School senior, Sean Doherty, has been named a Finalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program.  A key student leader at ICHS, Sean has captained both the Cross Country and Bowling teams in his junior and senior years, is a three year National Honor Society member, is the editor of the school newspaper, and is the Executive Board Vice-President.  Sean is also is a member of the track team, Ecology Club, a Christian Service Leader, a Knight Ambassador and has served in the Student Council for multiple years.  The outstanding work that Sean has done both in and out of the classroom are evidenced by his acceptance to top universities such as University of Notre Dame, Marquette University, University of Illinois – Champaign, Loyola University, and Michigan State University.

Approximately 15,000 Semifinalists advanced to the Finalist level and it is from this group that some 8,200 National Merit Scholarship winners will be chosen.  Winners will begin to be announced in April of 2010.
