Michael Farganus Recognized with President’s Volunteer Service Award

Michael Farganus, an Immaculate Conception High School senior, has been honored for his exemplary volunteer service with a President’s Volunteer Service Award.  The award, which recognizes Americans of all ages who have volunteered significant amounts of their time to serve their communities and their country, was presented by the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program on behalf of President Obama.

“Michael is a wonderful young man who certainly understands and lives the true meaning of Christian Service by word and deed” praised ICHS Principal Pam Levar.

Michael earned his award by volunteering his time in many different ways.  He is a Eucharistic Minister, an active member of the Campus Ministry, helps out with various holiday food drives every year, assists with food pantry collections, and has also participated in many other school service-based activities.  In addition, Michael is an officer in the National Honor Society and an ICHS student council member.

Sponsored by Prudential Financial in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP), The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program recognizes young people across America for outstanding community service activities.  More than 275,000 young people have been considered for these awards since the program began in 1995.

Congratulations Michael!
