Below are websites about health, (both physical and mental), human anatomy, and sports.  They have been collected from book review journals, print resources, librarian or teacher recommendations, and other resources.

  • Human Body  National Geographic explores the brain, heart, digestive system, lungs and skin with interactive graphics, videos, and more.
  • The Human Brain  New Scientist provides a wealth of information about the human brain.
  • The Human Heart: An Online Exploration   From the Franklin Institute, this site contains excellent information about the human heart, including its structure, blood, blood vessels, and how to keep your heart healthy.

  • Allergies Center   Featuring allergy guides, an interactive seasonal-allergens map of the United States.
  • Cancer411.org  Under "Webcasts & Articles," there a vast amount of information about a variety of cancers.
  • Eating Disorders Information Index   From the National Eating Disorders Association, this index provides a variety of information about eating disorders, their symptoms, treatments, and their effects.
  • Fast Food Facts   Get the lowdown on many calories, fat, cholesterol, and sodium are in your favorite fast food meals.
  • First Aid   Discusses what first aid is, provides procedures on how to treat a variety of injuries and ailments, and contains a quiz so you can see how much you know about first aid.  From the BBC.
  • Flu.gov   The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services provides current information about the seasonal flu, avian flu, N1H1 (swine flu), and other influenza-related viruses.
  • Food and Nutrition Information Center   From the National Agricultural Library of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, this site is full of information on nutrition, dieting, food pyramid, food safety, and more.
  • Food Safety. Gov  Managed by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, this site provides tips on food safety, recalls, and information about food poisoning.
  • Girls Health   Provides health information just for girls from the National Women's Health Information Center.
  • Healthfinder   From the United States Department of Health and Human Services, this site contains articles on a variety of subjects.
  • Healthline  You can find a lot of health related information here.
  • InteliHealth  From Aetna and in cooperation with Harvard Medical Schools, this site provides information about diseases and conditions, keeping a healthy lifestyle, and includes a medical dictionary and a drug resource center.
  • Learn to be Healthy   Provides resources to help you make wise health decisions with videos, links, and more.
  • MayoClinic  You will find a lot of information on diseases and disorders, health care issues, first aid, and information about medications on this site.
  • Medline Plus  An excellent site that provides comprehensive health information to the public from several government agencies.
  • Merck Manual of Medical Information   An excellent resource for anyone seeking accurate, up-to-date, yet understandable medical information including anatomical drawings, first aid, disorders, common medical tests, and drug names.
  • National Library of Medicine  Here you can explore the history of medicine, view the online exhibits and digital projects or research a health related topic with one of their databases including Medline Plus, (see above).
  • Nutrition.Gov   Provides "easy online access to government information on food and human nutrition for consumers."  (from web site).
  • Nutrition Source   From the Department of Nutrition at the Harvard School of Public Health, this site provides tips on healthy eating and explains why nutrition is important.
  • Shape Up America!  This is the website of Shape Up America! Its purpose is to educated the public about obesity and to encourage a healthy weight with more physical activities.
  • U.S. Food and Drug Administration   The FDA oversees areas relating to food, drugs, medical devices, veterinary services, cosmetics, and more.  Its site is a wealth of information on those areas.
  • Virtual Hospital   From the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, this site is full of great heath information.

  • APA: Psychology Topics   From the American Psychological Association, this site provides information on a variety of topics relating to psychology including addictions, ADHD, bullying, depression, schizophrenia, and more.
  • Dr. Michael Fenichel's Current Topics in Psychology  A clinical psychologist put this site together to provide a collection of articles on a variety of current psychological topics including addiction, domestic violence, anxiety, autism, depression, eating disorders, and more.
  • Encyclopedia of Psychology  Developed by the Jacksonville State University, this is a useful online encyclopedia of topics, people, and history relating to psychology.
  • Healthy Minds.org   Contains "information on many common mental health concerns, including warning signs of mental disorders, treatment options, and preventative measures" (from the website).
  • History of Psychology  This site from the University of Dayton looks into the history of psychology including some key figures in the field.
  • Mental Health America    A fact-filled site about mental health and mental illness from the oldest and largest organization in the field.
  • National Alliance on Mental Illness   Here you can find information on a variety of mental illnesses including AD/HD, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, depression, PTSD, schizophrenia, OCD, and more.
  • Teens & Stress   Everything you wanted to know about stress, but were too stressed out to ask.
