NHS NEWS
Well the school year has just only kicked off, but the members of NHS have been hard at work with studies and service. On Sunday, September 27, the members of NHS gave some of their time to help out the foundation of One Small Voice. This foundation helps raise money to research and inform people about the disorder hydrocephalus. Hydrocephalus is a disorder that develops in newborns where the fluids around the brain and spinal cord that act as a protective barrier for newborns don’t go away. When this happens the pressure inside the head is greatly increased causing the head to be bigger in size and also severely damages the brain and spinal cord. In order to help this cause the members of NHS assisted with their local annual race. The NHS members helped out by checking in gear for people, signing people in, directing them to the parking lot, being crossing guards and cheering them on. In total the foundation raised over $6,000 to help their cause. If you would like to help out or learn more you can visit their website: www.onesmallvoicefoundation.org

On Tuesday, September 29, and Wednesday, September 30, NHS had a bake sale to help raise more money for the One Small Voice Foundation. All of the money that was raised was donated to the foundation. Saturday, October 10, the members of NHS enjoyed the night at Immaculate Conception’s Homecoming Dance—a nice break from our studies.
Now NHS is getting ready for the National Honors Society Induction Ceremony which will happen on Wednesday, November 4 in the Immaculate Conception’s Chapel at 8:15 a.m. followed by a breakfast reception at 8:45 a.m. for all new and current NHS members. Parents are welcome to attend both the ceremony and reception. Please note this is ceremony not a mass. As more information comes available it will be posted on the NHS website.
