Planning a Reunion
Your first steps
Here is some information to get you started on planning your class reunion. Remember, every class is unique, so every reunion will be unique! Nothing has to follow a set pattern. We have gathered suggestions and ideas from numerous sources to pass them along to you!
Your VERY first step should be to contact (and stay in touch with) the Alumni Officer, Tim Chandler by phone or email. He can get you started with a class list for addresses, help set the date aside, and post all of your up to date reunion information on the ICHS Website!
NOW, here are some questions you might ask yourself as you start to plan (click to see the answers):
1. When is the best time of year to have an ICHS Reunion?
2. What types of events are part of a reunion weekend?
3. How do we set up a tour of the High School Building?
4. How do we find entertainment for our Dinner/Dance event?
5. Where should we hold our reunion events?
6. Do you have ICHS souvenirs for those who attend the reunion?
1. When is the best time of year to have an ICHS Reunion?
Many classes center their reunion events around Homecoming weekend because of all the fun, traditional events that bring back that nostalgic feeling to a reunion class.
Other dates could fall during the summer when you know many of your classmates may be planning vacations anyway.
Remember, whatever the date, we can help you make your reunion special!
2. What types of events are part of a reunion weekend?
Golf Outings, Banquet Dinners, Cocktail Receptions, Building Tours and Group Outings to the city are just a few of the activities in which reunion classes participated. You could include one or several of these ideas into your plan depending on what mood you want to set.
The following is a typical weekend full of Reunion Plans:
Friday - Golf Outing during the day, cocktails at a favorite watering hole in the evening (informal)
Saturday - Football Game, Building Tour, Mass at IC, Banquet Dinner (including a Class Photo) at a nearby hotel or restaurant
Sunday - Brunch at a local hotel (most likely the one where most guests will stay), Outing to the city
You can mix and match events in any way. Be creative! You are not confined to the ideas above. Your class is unique - your reunion should be, as well.
3. How do we set up a tour of the High School Building?
You will need to call the Alumni Officer, Tim Chandler, to let him know the date and time you would like to schedule your tour. He will check the date through the principal and get back to you with the okay.
4. How do we find entertainment for our Dinner/Dance event?
Local hotels and restaurants are your best bet for finding quality entertainment for your events. These venues are listed further down the page.
5. Where should we hold our reunion event(s)?
Local Hotels
Local Restaurants/Banquet Facilities
6. Do you have ICHS souvenirs for those who attend the reunion?
Unfortunately, we do not have souvenirs in the office for you to give away. However, here are two resources you can use if you wish to give table favors, or have ICHS apparel available for your participants to purchase.
