ACADEMIC PROGRAMS
Honors Program
Students may enroll in honors program courses if selected by their teacher or the department chairperson.
Advanced Placement (AP) Program
College credit is available to students through the Advanced Placement program. ICHS offers AP courses in English, Calculus, American History, and Biology. National AP exams are administered in May of each year. Students who score 3 or better on an the AP Test may earn credits toward their college degree.
Elmhurst College/College of DuPage Program
Our unique cooperative learning programs with Elmhurst College and College of DuPage enable exceptional student to take college courses. Courses at Elmhurst College are at no extra cost to the student.
Academic Letter Program
Each student who attains a 3.00 grade point average for both semesters in the same academic year will receive an ICHS embroidered school academic letter, similar to an athletic letter. Students who meet the criteria for a second, third or fourth time will be given pins to add to the letter. Students earning a “D” or “F” in any subject will not be able to count that semester toward qualifying for the award.

NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY – Our Lady’s Chapter
Membership in the National Honor Society is designed to give recognition to students who display outstanding scholarship, character, leadership, and service. Once elected, members have the responsibility to continue to demonstrate the qualities of scholarship, character, leadership, and service.
The first requirement for NHS is a 3.5 cumulative grade point average or higher. A student with a 3.5 cumulative grade point average or higher may apply for membership or renewal. Juniors and seniors who apply will be evaluated on the basis of scholarship, character, leadership, and service. Not all students who apply are accepted.
Process for Application and Acceptance to the National Honor Society
- Student will complete the Student Activity Information form. All information must be correct and will be verified by the faculty advisor.
- The Faculty Council will evaluate each student in the areas of scholarship, character, leadership and service on a confidential form.
- The Faculty Council will make the final evaluation and acceptance of NHS members.
- Each new member and renewal members will be notified personally of his/her acceptance.
- Each renewing member will be re-evaluated each year.
- If any NHS member fails to maintain the required grade point average, or any other standards of the National Honor Society, they will be placed on probation. If the situation does not change, the NHS member will forfeit membership.
