Shadow Days

What is a Shadow Day?

A shadow day provides the opportunity to spend a day with an ICHS student to get a sneak preview of life as an IC Knight. You will participate in all activities that day, including classroom discussion, assemblies and lunch.

Who can I shadow?

You will be paired with a Knight Ambassador and will attend classes and activities as if you were an IC Knight. If you would like to be paired with a specific student, please inform us when you make the appointment. While we cannot guarantee that you will be paired with that particular student, we will make every effort to pair you with a student with whom you will be comfortable.

What time should I arrive at IC, and where should I go?

Your day begins at 7:45 a.m. and ends at 2:50 p.m. You will check in at the Main Office, inside the front entrance of the school on Cottage Hill Avenue, to meet your Knight Ambassador. At the end of the day, you will return to the Main Office.

What should I wear?

ICHS students maintain a uniform dress code. We ask shadows to adhere to our code and dress in appropriate school attire.

  • Collared shirt or blouse. An appropriate sweater may be worn.
  • Dress pants or appropriate length dress or skirt.
  • Dress shoes (low heels)
  • Blue jeans, yoga pants, T-shirts and gym shoes are not permitted.

How do I schedule a Shadow Day?

Contact the Admissions Office at (630) 530-3484 to schedule your visit. Please call a minimum of three full days in advance to schedule your visit.  It is never too soon to call as certain dates fill up fast.  You will be asked to complete the Shadow Day form and bring it on the day of your visit.
