Athletic Department Philosophy

Immaculate Conception High School provides students with opportunities in interscholastic athletic activities because we believe that such activities make valuable contributions towards the achievement of educational goals, provide significant lifetime learning experiences that are not duplicated in other instructional settings and assist in the positive development of the individual.

Among the intended outcomes and virtues are physical fitness, fair play, honesty, courtesy, self-restraint, favorable attitudes and positive interpersonal relationships.  We believe athletics is an indispensable part of the total school program.

Participation in athletics is a privilege that includes responsibilities to the school, community, and the athletes themselves.  In play and in conduct, student athletes represent all of these groups.  In providing leadership for the development of student athletes and athletic programs, coaches have responsibilities to the school, athletes, team, and community.  To these ends, we expect athletes to exhibit and coaches to model four basic traits;

1. Exemplary moral character on and off the playing field.
2. Enthusiasm for self, team, sport, other programs, and school.
3. Confidence in self, team, and coaching staff.
4. Commitment to academics, athletics, and support for other co-curricular programs.

This athletic department will be conducted under the regulations established by the IHSA, the Suburban Christian Conference, and the administrative regulations set forth by Immaculate Conception High School and the Diocese of Joliet.

Hall of Fame

The ICHS Athletic Hall of Fame will not have a Class of 2011-12 due to the 75th Anniversary Celebrations that are taking place this school year.  All nominations will be moved to next year and new nominations will be accepted until November 1st, 2012.  Please take a look at the information for nominations at the links on the left hand menu of this page.  The complete list of all current HOF Members is available at the link on the left hand menu.

2012 Summer Youth Sports Camp Information

The ICHS Athletic Department hosts a variety of sports camps every summer for grade school athletes. 2012 camps will be posted in March of 2012 and will be available by clicking the link below.  At that time, you will be able to print and complete the form, then follow instructions to mail back with payment or register on-line with credit card. Details for that will be posted as well in March 2012.  Thank you to all who participated in the 2011 camps!
